What Beeledger does
Beeledger lets you record everything about your hive inspections without having to use your phone while manipulating the hives. We know it's impossible to use a phone with these gloves on. So the application basically records your voice while you do the inspection. And you can do as many hives as you want. You can do it for two hours straight without touching the phone, and it will save everything and classify, categorize all the information. After, you can mumble, you can correct yourself. You can do whatever you want. The only thing you have to remember is to speak out loud, mentioning each hive's name, like A1, A2, A10, and so on. And then the application will sort it out.
A real inspection, hive by hive
So let's do a quick hive inspection to see how it works. I haven't started yet, so I'm gonna open the mobile app and press record. So I pressed record, and now it's picking up my voice. And I'm gonna leave the phone right here. Suit up, and open up a hive. All right, let's go.
So I'm gonna open hive Alpha 3, A3, which is right here. We're gonna see how they are doing. This one's a bit weaker than the two other ones. It's not doing bad. But last time there was less brood, less eggs than the two neighbors there. But let's see how it goes today. Okay, I'm gonna smoke it a bit. All right, let's see. I'm gonna remove the super. I remember this one was mostly honey, so I want to see some... ...some brood. Hopefully the queen, if we're lucky.
So, it's August. We're in Chile, so it's winter, and this super is absolutely packed with honey. I think it's close to 20 kilos. And it's... it is glued with propolis. There you go.
All right, I'm gonna do it quickly because I don't want this video to be very long. So they sealed up the two boxes with wax... Excuse me, ladies. One already stung me in the hand. I think they don't like the temperature. Every time I visited them lately, they were a bit aggressive.
All right, first frame: we have almost nothing. A bit of capped honey, and uncapped on the other side. I'm gonna go straight to the middle to check the brood. Okay, this one's promising. That's the middle frame, number five of the lower box. This one has plenty of brood and larvae. Oh, and the queen! Actually, you have the queen right here. Right here, with the green dot. We're lucky. She's doing fine. Looking for a space to lay eggs. Well, I don't get lucky that often. So, we have the queen. We have eggs, a bit of pollen, plenty of honey. The hive is fine.
All right, that was a very quick checkup, and I'm gonna close up the hive. I'm gonna open another one. All right, let's do it. Nice.
Well, I did a very quick inspection just for the sake of this video, but the hive is fine. There are eggs and brood and everything, and resources. It's just that, compared to the other ones, Alpha 1 and Alpha 2, it's not as thriving in terms of population. It'd be interesting to do a mite count soon to see where we are with mite levels.
Okay, I'm gonna check out Alpha 1 before wrapping up everything. Okay, this one. Alpha 1 was doing great a few days ago, so I don't think I'm gonna have many surprises. My smoker is dying. Okay, we're gonna do it quick.
Smoker is dying. We'll just check the upper box. Purple box. Plenty of bees.
So last time, I actually removed five frames of capped honey to give them space. And we actually extracted them already. Let's see if they already put some honey in these empty frames. I don't think so, because it was a few days ago. But let's see. They are all over that frame anyway. That's one of the empty ones. Wow. They already filled it. It's crazy. They already filled like 30% of that frame. Wow. Okay.
It was last Friday that I put this empty frame. So they are filling it up like if it was summer. It's crazy. Okay, I'm gonna close it up because I don't have smoke anymore. And they are pretty defensive, because even though it's really sunny, it's not that hot right here. It's 15 degrees Celsius. So, no need to spend more time here. All right, we're good. So that was it. A very quick inspection.
Finishing up in the app
All right, I'm gonna show you how we finish up the inspection now, with the application. Okay, so you finish your inspection. Just go for the mobile app. Your phone is probably asleep right now, I mean locked, but it doesn't matter. It keeps on recording.
And do you see the screen? It's recording. You stop it, you save, and it's gonna process your audio, removing silences and everything. And then it will extract all the data.
The audio gets recorded whether you're offline or not. Doesn't matter, it will work. And once you're back online, you will see your data coming up. So right here I can see the audio processing. It's gonna upload in a second. It's uploading right now. And then it's gonna transcribe, extract, categorize, and everything. And once it's done... There you go. Once it's done, you receive a notification and you get your hive data, categorized, in your hive.
That's it. That's how Beeledger works. So yeah, as you can see, it's dead simple to use this mobile application to log your hive data. I think everybody can do this. Just record your voice, speak out loud, and the app does the rest. So that's it.
I've been experimenting with plenty of solutions to do this in the least intrusive way possible. And this is the simplest. The most streamlined version of logging all the data you want, without the struggle of manually typing it or using your phone with these gloves. Try it out. It's so simple. I'm sure you're gonna love it. Let me know what you think.
